Dura-Flex Plastic Coating

The flexible wood coating that lasts

permanent deck coating - a coating that lasts
Dura-Flex deck coating is the ideal coating for all your outdoor wood. It does not work like other coatings that need to be re-applied every year or two. Other deck sealers utilize waxes and oil that penetrate into the wood. They consistently need to be re-applied as the sun quickly draws them out of the wood. Dura-Flex is different. It works by adhering to the outer surface of the wood, forming a clear plastic film that is extremely tough. It gives the wood a beautiful, furniture grade appearance. Dura-Flex bonds a plastic polymer film directly onto the wood's surface, where protection is most needed. While some of the highest priced wood coatings utilize fillers and only contain 22% or less of actual polymer, Dura-Flex Coating™ contains 42% polymers which is one reason why it is tougher and lasts longer than other wood sealers and coatings. It is perfect for use on decks, docks, playground equipment, fences and other natural or stained outdoor wood.

The Dura-Flex polymer coating eliminates many moisture problems associated with wood that is exposed to weathering. It keeps wood in prime condition and can prevent ugly mold and mildew from developing deep in the grain. The finish will reflect the harmful rays of the sun that burns the surface of exposed wood into a dull, grayish color. And but best of all, Dura-Flex™ will protect your family from nasty splinters and the harmful exposure to chromated copper arsenate (CCA), used for years in pressure treated wood. Direct skin exposure to CCA has been linked to cancer. The government banned CCA a few years ago, however, their is still a lot of CCA wood in use. The EPA is now warning people to seal their CCA treated wood with a high molecular weight polymer coating to prevent direct contact with skin. Dura-Flex™  is a very high molecular weight coating and very effective at preventing exposure to the harmful CCA chemicals..

Wood is like a sponge. When left unprotected it will easily absorbs water that cause problems. Constant swelling after wetting then shrinking after drying causes wood to split and fibrous splinters to form. Splinters are a painful problem, especially with children. Wet wood is an ideal medium for mildew and mold growth. Dura-Flex seals the wood and prevents unwanted water absorption. It is engineered to allow a minute amount of vapor to pass through, keeping your wood in prime condition without allowing it to erode. With Dura-Flex Plastic Coating™, your outdoor wood will stay protected longer and reapplying sealer every year or two will no longer be necessary.

Be aware that residue from sealers used in the past, contaminants  introduced by bleach and cleaners and the type of wood coated can effect adhesion of a film coating and determines its usefulness. Proper preparation, over dry, well-drained wood is imperative.  Not recommended for use over cedar and wood treated with high concentrations of ACQ. We offer a 4 oz. trial size to try out before ordering.
