Are there other coatings available like Liquid Vinyl Siding?
No! There is only one Liquid Vinyl Siding. AM-VO-CO® Liquid Vinyl is the original Liquid
Vinyl. Liquid Vinyl Siding-USA has been manufacturing it in the United States since
1985. It is the only coating composed of 31.34% PVC vinyl resin. Other coatings that
claim to be Liquid Vinyl are actually rubber base paint or an acrylic latex paint.

What about the other companies that sell 'Liquid Vinyl'?
Just ask to see the data sheet for their product and you will find that it does not contain
PVC vinyl resin. In fact, most of the other companies will not show their product data
sheet. With only a few exceptions, these companies don't actually manufacture their
coating. They buy an ordinary paint and doctor it up by adding ceramic powder or
some other filler to add weight and use as a marketing ploy. These fillers provide
little benfit to the consumer and do not live up to the hype they are sold with. Latex
base paints contain a compound called polyvinyl acetate. So technically speaking,
all latex paint can be called 'liquid vinyl' but that does not mean it contains PVC.

Can I buy the Liquid Vinyl coating and apply it myself?
Liquid Vinyl Siding is typically sold through authorized dealers and installed by
certified contractors to assure guaranteed performance. If there is not an authorized
dealer servicing your area, we make the product available for a homeowner to have
his own painter apply it or do it himself. However, the warranty can only be obtained
when the coating is installed by a certified technician. For further information on
self installations, visit the DO-IT-YOURSELF
SECTION or call us at 1-888-409-2023.

Will Liquid Vinyl Siding help insulate my home?
Yes, it seals the structure and reduces conduction heat loss in the winter and
reduces heat gain in summer. The actual insulating value (R-value) of a coating
product is difficult to verify. Liquid Vinyl Siding makes no claims as to the extent
of insulation it provides and the amount it will reduce your energy bill. Beware
of companies making specific insulation claims for thier coating. The claims
are usually unverifiable and the FTC is disciplining companies making
fictitious
claims. A spray coating, even with ceramic powder added, cannot provide
enough insulation that will significantly reduce your energy bills. The true
value of Liquid Vinyl Siding is the benefit it provides by reducing future painting
and maintenance costs, giving your home a beautiful appearance and adding to
the value of the property.

This is the first I've heard of it. How long has Liquid Vinyl Siding been around?
It is not a new product. In fact it was developed over 45 years ago in Great
Britain. Liquid Vinyl Siding-USA has been manufacturing it in California since
1986. AM-VO-CO® Liquid Vinyl is time tested and has amassed an impressive
performance record. It has proven to work in all climates andregions of the
United States; even in extreme weather conditions.

How thick is Liquid Vinyl Siding?
Generally speaking, AM-VO-CO® Liquid Vinyl is about 10 to 15 times thicker
than an average coat of paint. Standard paint consists of about 70% liquid
which evaporates out as it dries leaving only 30% of the solid components on
the surface forming a paper thin layer of paint. Liquid Vinyl Siding is about
70% solids. The total coating system forms a film that is 18 mils (18/1,000 inch)
thick providing a more protective film that is extremely tough and durable. A coat
or two of regular paint is just not thick enough to last and will wear out very
quickly when exposed to weathering.

How do I clean Liquid Vinyl Siding?
When necessary, simply hose it down with an ordinary garden hose. It can
also be pressure cleaned after 90 days when it is fully cured without harming
it. Household cleansers such as Spic & Span or a solution of bleach and
water can be used for tougher stains without harming the coating.
< top >
My house has several
colors on it, can more than one color be applied?
Yes, Liquid Vinyl Siding can be manufactured in any color and you can use
any combination of colors on your home. The possibilities are endless!
< top >
Do I have to coat the entire
house or can I just coat selected parts, such as trim?
You can coat only those parts you want covered.
< top >
But I have a brick house?
Even brick homes have a lot of wood that needs to be protected,
such as the eves, porch railing, columns, ceiling areas or wood trim
around windows and door openings. Applying Liquid Vinyl Siding to these
areas can make the entire exterior maintenance-free. You can even
apply it over the brick if you wanted to.
< top >
Can I change the color if I wanted to in the future or if I sell it and the new owner wanted a different color?
Yes! The color can simply be changed by misting a thin coat of fresh vinyl in
the new color over the existing vinyl coat. The cost is usually less expensive
than regular painting since the only surface preparation required is cleaning
and not much additional vinyl is needed for a color change. It can also be
painted over with latex paint, but this will void the warranty.
< top >
What type surfaces can it be applied over?
Liquid Vinyl Siding can be applied to over most paintable surfaces. It should not
be used on decks and other horizontal surfaces, roofing applications and motor
homes. It is approved for use over wood, stucco, brick, block, masonry, stone,
OSB, metal, composite siding, cement fiberboard, aluminum siding, Hardi-Plank
and regular vinyl siding.
< top >
Can it go on aluminum or vinyl siding to renew or change the color?
Yes! Liquid Vinyl Siding is ideal to use over traditional vinyl siding and
aluminum siding to change the color or renew it.
< top >
What about preparation, do I need to have that done before applying Liquid Vinyl?
Your authorized dealer will take care of all the preparations needed before installing
the coating. Surface preparation is absolutely critical for a quality installation and
lasting durability. Each project is unique and will involve different preparation needs.
Every installation includes surface cleaning, replacement of rotten wood and
routine scraping, sanding and caulking.
< top >
Does all the old paint need to be removed and taken down to bare wood to apply it?
Not necessarily. the old coats of paint will be tested for soundness and when
necessary, removed down to a sound layer. If the paint is badly cracking and
peeling or if you have several coats of old oil base paint, it will need to be removed.
< top >
How can I find out how much Liquid Vinyl will cost?
Due to differences in labor, insurance and permit costs in the various areas
around of the country, you will need to consult your local authorized dealer
for pricing information. Each home is unique and the cost will vary depending
on the many factors involved. Your dealer will arrange for a representative to
come look at your project and provide you with a detailed quotation free of charge.
