COVERAGE RATE:
300 to 500 square feet per gallon per coat. Surface porosity and texture will effect coverage rate. Multiple thin coats are recommended with a minimum of two coats required.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surfaces must be sound, clean and dry prior to application and must be free of wax, grease or oil that may impair adhesion. Check for waxes in the wood by dripping water on the boards and watching if the water drops bead up. All waxes must be removed before applying. The surface should be thoroughly cleaned by pressure washing and rinsed thoroughly. The presence of inorganic salts can prevent proper adhesion with the wood. Most cleaning solutions and bleach contain varying amounts of sodium salts. Rinsing with a heavy stream of water from a garden hose is recommended. Allow at least a week after cleaning to let the wood thoroughly dry out. Wood must be thoroughly dry before coating.  It is best to use a moisture meter to measure the moisture content in the wood and ideally, moisture readings should be under 10%. If wood was recently stained, it needs to be completely dry before coating. Latex transparent and semi-transparent stains works best due to faster drying than oil based stains which may take several months to sufficiently dry. If the smell of oil stain is still present, it is not dry enough to coat. Previously painted surfaces and surfaces with solid stain must be striped before applying. Dura-Flex Plastic Coating™ is must be in contact with the wood for proper adhesion.

APPLICATION:
Dura-Flex Plastic Coating™ can be brushed, sprayed or applied with a pad attached to a broom handle that can be purchased at most hardware stores and home centers. Do not apply thick coats. Multiple thin coats are recommended. Dura-Flex ™ dries quickly making jobs go faster even when applying several coats. Apply uniformly over the entire surface. The more coats applied, the longer it will last. Gentle stir before using. Do not shake or cause foaming during use. Brush out all drips and bubbles immediately before coating dries. Occasionally stir the container during application. Avoid leaving open container in direct sunlight. Keep lid tightly closed when not using. The temperature during application must be above 50º F and below 90º F with no expected rain for a 24-hour period.

DRYING TIME
